How to Rent an Accessible Vehicle via Scootaround

Bird is partnering with Scootaround to provide a variety of accessible vehicle solutions to customers in markets across the United States. The markets in which Bird and Scootaround are launching accessible options is constantly expanding, so make sure to look for the rental option in your market.

Accessible Vehicle Rental Flow

To rent an accessible vehicle via the Scootaround partnership, customers can follow these steps.

If you are in a market where Accessible Vehicles are available for rent, then you will see a banner at the bottom of the left menu.

Click on the banner to learn more about Bird’s accessible vehicle offering.


To proceed to the rental flow, click on Start your Rental button to be taken to the rental flow.

After clicking on Start your Rental you will be taken to the Scootaround rental experience where you will enter your preferred Delivery and Return date and time.

Rental Term

Bird’s accessible program requires rentals be placed at least 24 hours in advance of the desired delivery time and date.

Rental Duration

1 day rentals require delivery and pickup on the same calendar day. Pickup on the next day is considered a 2 day rental and is charged as such.

Customers are able to order a vehicle well in advance of their intended rental date.


After entering your rental duration details, you will select your preferred vehicle and coverage.
You have the option of adding enhanced protection for damage and loss, as well as cancellation protection. While these options are an additional cost to the rental, they are entirely optional for the customer, and can be dismissed by selecting NO at the appropriate step.

Once the desired vehicle and coverage plans are selected, a customer will enter their preferred pickup and delivery address information.

The address must match the coverage service area to complete the rental order

Transaction Complete: Upon completion of the transaction, an expert operator will deliver the vehicle to your chosen address, and spend time ensuring the vehicle is setup correctly, and that you understand how to use the vehicle.

As part of the delivery, you will be provided with the necessary equipment to charge the vehicle and lock the vehicle.

Riding: When using the vehicle, you must abide by regulations of safe riding, and follow all local laws.
