Get to Know the Scoot Moped

What is Scoot Moped?

Scoot Moped is a seated addition to our fleet of environmentally friendly, sustainable vehicles. It’s built for comfort, performance, and durability, so you can conquer almost any terrain during short or long trips.

You’ll need to have a valid driver’s license and be over 18 to ride a Scoot Moped. You’re also required by law to wear a helmet while you ride, so we put two helmets (one in medium size and another in extra large) in a storage bin behind the seat so you can borrow one for your trip.

How can I rent them?

Just like our e-scooters, you can rent a Scoot Moped for a period of time through the Bird app or the Scoot Kick app. Simply use the map to find a moped near you, scan the QR code on its handlebars, put on a helmet from the storage bin, and head out.

Where can I ride the moped?

Scoot Mopeds can only be ridden in streets or bike lanes when available—never on the highway. Also, never park Scoot Mopeds on the sidewalk. Instead, park them on the street, or in a motorcycle spot, perpendicular to the curb. And be sure to always follow traffic laws and street signs.

Scoot Mopeds are currently only available in San Francisco and Austin. Keep an eye out for updates to see when they’re coming to your area.

How much does it cost to ride?

Scoot Mopeds are the same price to unlock and ride as our e-scooters, with a minimum charge of $3.50.
