The last step before you get paid is to release your repaired Birds into a Nest.
What are Nests?
Nests are pre-designated locations where Birds can be dropped off after they are repaired. You can release Birds into Nests at any time between 8 am – 5 pm.
A Nest can be located alongside the kerb on the pavement, in the area typically referred to as the “furniture zone”. This is where you normally find parking meters, street signs, trees, bus stops, or bike parking.
Make sure to view Nest Details before releasing to know how the Birds should be set up in a Nest.
- Birds should be released out of the public right of way – keep clear of walkways, drives, access ramps, disabled parking spaces, and fire hydrants.
- Release and park Birds close to the kerb and facing the street near bike parking, trees, or street signs.
- Avoid uneven surfaces like grass, gravel, rocks, or inclines.
To start, tap RELEASE BIRDS in the menu.
Selecting a Nest
You’ll see a map with circular icons, each containing a number. The icons mark the locations of Nests and the numbers represent the number of Birds available to be dropped in each specific Nest. Once a Nest is full, it will no longer appear on the map.
When you’ve selected a Nest, tap its icon. Three options will appear: CLAIM NEST, NAVIGATE TO NEST, and MORE DETAILS.
Tapping CLAIM NEST will reserve that Nest for you for the next 30 minutes. No other Charger can see or release at that Nest. You may only claim one Nest at a time.
Navigate to Nest
To get to the Nest, tap NAVIGATE and the app will prompt you to open your preferred navigation application (e.g. Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, etc.).
Once you’ve arrived at the Nest, tap MORE DETAILS. You’ll see a picture of the exact Nest location, the street address of the Nest, and notes describing any directions for releasing your Birds at that Nest.
Place your Birds exactly as they appear in the photo. Once they’re positioned, tap RELEASE.
You can only Release when you are close to the Nest.
Scan to Release
After selecting 'Release', the scanner will open for you to scan the Birds that you are releasing into the Nest - similar to how you scan Birds when you capture them.
Scan the QR code of each Bird that you are releasing. The purple banner at the top of the scanner will let you know how many spots are still available in the Nest. Once you've scanned all Birds that you're releasing, select 'Release' in the top right corner.
The last step of the release process is taking a picture of your Birds in the Nest. Please make sure the photo shows all Birds currently in the Nest. As soon as the photo has uploaded, you’re officially done!
